Stepping out of the shadows
by contramundum ini have been lurking on the site for a few months and thought it about time i plucked up the courage to step out of the shadows and say hello.. i am in the process of fading after realizing all is not right with the organization i had trusted implicitly for over 40 years.
there have always been 'truths' i have struggled to accept entirely, even as a child, but was confident that trusting in jehovah, building my faith and remaining patient would be enough to settle any nagging doubts that remained, so i pushed any inconsistencies to the back of my mind and concentrated on being the best witness that i could be.. over the last few years, however, i have been preoccupied with a number of crises in my family and stepping back slightly from 'theocratic' activity has allowed me to re evaluate a number of concerns and research sources other than the sanitized wt publications.. my eyes are now wide open - i found things which have appalled me and left me feeling extremely let down and disappointed by people i had really trusted.. i tried gently raising a few subjects with my mum (who was baptized early '70s and still remains a staunch wt supporter) but she will hear no criticism of the organization.
i understand this because the best part of her life has been invested in the religion and to acknowledge it may have got things wrong would be to recognize the last 40 years have been a vain waste.

Can Katie Kitten get up to 100% UK coverage with our help?
by slimboyfat invery good idea for activism in the uk.
they've already contacted over 60 congregations about not destroying evidence the government may require, which must be about 5% of congregations in the uk.
getting near to 100% shouldn't be out of reach.

What if we wrote to the coordinator, sent it registered mail, but didn't write to the MP? Not too keen on putting my name out there... -

Great stuff, the more the merrier I say. You mentioned that this is the second exjw podcast, but here's another you've missed though, 'watchtower and awakening' quite a good one from this side of the pond.. -

Evolution is a Fact #2 - DNA Functional Redundancy
by cofty inin the first thread in this series we looked at how the same protein molecule can be assembled by many different sequences of amino acids.. we took the example of cytochrome c and saw that there are many times more possible sequences than atoms in the known universe.
however the sequences in humans and chimps are identical, and as we look at species less closely related to us by evolution the more differences we find.
this is very compelling evidence for common ancestry.. in this post we are going to look more closely at the dna code behind those amino acid sequences.. the "language" of dna is made up of just 4 "letters" - a,c,g and t.. sequences of letters are read off in groups of 3 called codons.. acggcctcgaatgccttc would be read as acg gcc tcg aat gcc ttc.

Please say that deepak is being quoted sarcastically. I'm losing hope if he's being used as an authority. -

To all JDub lurkers: How can you continue to preach knowing that you are telling lies?
by macys inthis is a damn serious question.
you must know by now that jerusalem was not destroyed in 607 bce and that 607 was initially picked by ct russell by using his "pyramid scheme" measurements.
there is no hiding these facts yet you continue to preach this nonsense.

Anytime you set foot in a KH and attend meetings and are counted while being seated you are in effect preaching this BS by your actions; you are in effect showing others around you that you endorse this bullshit weather you are going to keep ties with friends and family or not.
I disagree. By sitting there silently when everyone knows me as the ex elder that answered every opportunity, by never going on the ministry when everyone knows me as the ex pioneer, people can see quite clearly there's something wrong, that clearly I have a problem with the bOrg. And yet I've not changed into an evil selfish person, I'll still help people, in still caring, just not really participating. And as you know, the bOrg gossip mongering machine soon gets into full sway. I'm finding it interesting to see who's dropping me like a hot potato and who's even more willing to talk now they know I've got issues..

S.A.D. Observations from the assembly.
by Darkknight757 inso we had brother losch visiting our special assembly day which was weird in itself.
he's not a very good speaker and seemed like he was in dire need of a nap or something.. anyways just a few observations from the assembly program.
theme: imitate their faith.
